Most people don’t know that Michael Kors is a college dropout. In the 1970’s, Kors attended FIT but left the school before completing his degree (just goes to show that a college education isn’t everything now a days huh?)

Although he left the school, Kors still feels strongly towards it, which is why he’s establishing a lifetime endowment scholarship and gifting the school $1 million. The Michael Kors Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to one FIT student who shows “exceptional talent” but is limited by financial constraints.

This scholarship will allow funds to cover tuition, housing and books, include a mentorship program, and a potential internship at Michael Kors. The winning student will be chosen this summer.

Kors said: “I attended FIT in the late ‘70s, and the school provided a totally comprehensive curriculum for fashion design that is unparalleled. Since my days there it has evolved and become even stronger. It makes me so excited to see the potential talent that has been helped by this school, and I look forward to seeing that continue.”
