Indian Politician Says Women Who Have Sex Outside Marriage, Including Rape Victims, Should Be Hanged

by Katie Gonzalez

Women across the globe fight for stricter laws against rape and sex crimes, but in countries like India, the situation has only worsened.

Indian women are apparently just trying to stay alive — if one elected official had his way, we'd all be hanged to death.

When asked about the "solution" to India's "rape problem," Maharashtra unit chief Abu Azmi said that women who were victims of this heinous crime should simply be eliminated.

Azmi increased his crazy — and the scope of his outlandish opinion — by then asserting that all women, raped or unmarried, should be hanged if they've had sex (forcibly or not).

"Any woman if, whether married or unmarried, goes along with a man, with or without her consent, should be hanged."

And he's hateful toward both sexes for premarital sex — Azmi also insisted that unmarried men who have sex should also be hanged.

India's politics seem to be in a truly sad state these days. Recently Samajwadi Party leader, Singh Yadav, commented that the death penalty for rape was unfair.

And while this would definitely be classified as "cruel and unusual" in the US, Yadav's reasoning for this was seriously perverse — apparently "boys make mistakes," so the death penalty is too harsh.
