Beyoncé's Nail Artist Shows You How To Update The Half-Moon Manicure

by Niki McGloster

People lose their sh*t over Givenchy dresses and A-list celebrities sitting front row at Fashion Week. But, for a nail-obsessed lady like me, the most important part of any ensemble is in the details.

Nothing ensures a better first impression than a fresh manicure. Whether your nails are short and chic or Kylie Jenner-long, they're worthy of praise.

For those who want to jazz up their minimal manis with a runway-appropriate style, try a nude half-moon design. New year, new you, right?

I visited Momo Qin from New York City's Oh My Nails!, who's responsible for some of the fantastic gel nail colors worn by both Beyoncé and Chanel Iman. That's right, she's touched Bey's holy fingers.

Obviously, she's the perfect person to help you nail this lunar-inspired style. Before you start, make sure to pick out a nude color for the base and a "moon" shade that will pop.

For this particular mani, we used Christian Louboutin's "Just Nothing" and silver nail art paint. Warning: You'll need a toothpick to clean up your cuticles in case of any spills or drips.

Step 1: Give your natural nails a nude-colored coat. Use a shade so neutral, it barely registers as a color.

Step 2: Using the color for your moon design, create a dot at the center of your nail. Then, continue placing the dots on either side of that point.

Step 3: Quickly connect the dots and fill in your crescent.

Step 4: Take the obligatory picture holding your nail polish bottle.
