Listen, we’re not here to give another double standard lecture on how a girl is called a ‘whore’ and a guy is considered ‘The Man’ when she’s found in a compromising picture on video. No, what we’re here to talk about is how to prevent upsetting situations like this one, in which a probably too-messed-up-to-know-what-she’s-doing girl is ridiculed for performing oral sex on a guy who definitely qualified as a scumbag even before the incident happened. We’re not saying that it’s smart to get so obliterated that we don’t have control over our own bodies, but we’ve all been there and know what it’s like to exceed our limits for one reason or another. It’s up to all of us – as friends, peers, good Samaritans, and decent human beings – to look out for situations like this and to protect whomever is being disrespected from being even more humiliated on the Internet.
First off, we see enough porn and blow jobs and tits and sex on the internet as is. Why do you assh*les feel it necessary to post an extremely embarrassing photo of someone you don’t even know? Really, what is being accomplished here besides ruining another girl’s life? If we want to see amateur head, we can easily find it elsewhere. Seriously, uploading a video of some stranger giving oral sex doesn’t make you cool, it makes you a creepy and disgusting voyeur.
Do you really think people will be more attracted to you after you publicize an unfamiliar person’s private business? No. In fact, women will be more likely to stay very, very far away from you for fear of being the next on camera. We cannot stress enough how unbecoming and very 2006 it is to spread these compromising images.
To the ladies: We don’t care if you know her or not, it is our Girl Code and frankly, our responsibility as progressive women and decent people to help a fellow female when we witness this kind of circumstance going on. Here’s how easy it is. When we see a group of cheering guys huddled around one victorious looking man, we walk over, politely make our way through the crowd and calmly approach the girl.
If she can’t answer the question, “Do you know what you are doing right now?," gently take her arm and lead her out of the circle. And, you have our permission to scream a few, “douche bags” and “f*ck you’s” to the gentlemen who were passively watching. There, now YOU are the hero – not the guy who got his junk wet.
Why should we help her? Because somewhere in another universe that we think doesn’t exist, this could be us, and because standing there idly while a horrific moment happens makes us no better than the pervs viewing it nearby. Trust us, you aren’t ruining anyone’s day by stopping a girl before she’s all over the World Wide Web. (Well, maybe one assh*le’s).
To the men: Forget your carnal instinct to pounce on all things with a vagina and think for a moment. What if this were my sister/daughter/friend? You wouldn’t be too pleased with yourself for watching. To be honest, if you’re the one to valiantly help this girl out of a scary situation, more women will flock to you afterwards. And plus, chances are you’ve seen way, way better on your computer.
We hate when men use the excuse, “Some women want this.” Huh?! Are you moronic? NOBODY wants to be on the Internet sucking dick! (Unless you’re professionally paid with a contract, and even then, sometimes no). As a guy, you have the power to make the transgressor look stupid – he should be the one embarrassed. He’s the one caught with his pants down! And, because his face is the one all over the Internet (whereas the girl’s was nestled elsewhere) he’s the idiot! Put your freaking penis away when the cameras are out – you’re not a porn star and your dick size certainly couldn’t pass for one.
This is a call to action: If you see ‘shameful’ activity taking place, do your part and prevent it from going any further. Regardless if she’s aware of the circumstances or not, no one deserves to be exploited for the entire Internet to see. You’re not an idol for putting your stuff in some inebriated girl’s body, sexual predators and criminals do that (and we’ve seen it done many times before). What makes you a hero is doing something brave – like getting her out of trouble.
