The Girls of Girls Channel Their Personas Through Dress

by Ally Batista

If you’re not a fan of the show Girls, which claims residency on HBO, you must not watch it. Girls are the show that encompasses everything that actually goes on in a 20-something year old female’s life, and it manages to do so with a comedic air of comfort.

For those of you who aren’t familiar, the show centers around four friends in New York City, Hannah (played by Lena Dunham), Marnie (played by Allison Williams), Jessa (played by Jemima Kirke) and Shoshanna (played by Zosia Mamet). Last night was the premiere of the much anticipated second season, which airs on January 13th, and each of the actresses modeled their red carpet ensembles after their own personalities.

At least that’s what it came off as. Lena Dunham wore a black and white jumpsuit, going against the norm, like she’s accustomed to. Allison Williams wore a black and gold scalloped detailed cocktail dress, channeling her elegance and simplicity. Jemima Kirke wore a black velvet maxi dress; channeling her luxurious boho style and Zosia Mamet wore a one shouldered, black and white ruffled dress, paying homage to her classic, girly, and innocent persona.

Think about what you wear on a daily basis. Do your outfit choices reflect your personality? The answer may surprise you.
