Fearless Fashion: Leather Pants

One of my most favorite fall fashion staples this season is a leather pant. My mother recently gave me a pair she owned over twenty years ago and I can honestly say I can’t remember a time when I was happier. Is that sad? Probably.  I’ll excuse it by saying I’m addicted to fashion, and inheriting a vintage piece is a joyous occasion.

I love a good leather pant because it’s a completely versatile piece. You can dress it up or dress it down; it really looks good in almost any element. Not only do they look amazing for this season, they’re completely functional. I swear the pants I inherited from my mother are the warmest article of clothing I own next to my wool pea coats.

Now don’t fret, there are luckily a wide range of faux leather varieties to choose from. Not a fan of stiff leather or faux leather pants? You’re in luck. There are plenty of leather look leggings that you can wear in the same way you would wear a pant.

First, I’ll start off by displaying how I would wear a leather pant in a casual setting. To me, casual never means frumpy. When I dress casually I’m always completely comfortable and I would feel uncomfortable to be dressed too down. So in this instance, I would wear a leather pant with an oversized sweater and smoking slippers. This outfit in completely on trend, long distance walking friendly, appropriate for class, etc.

Now, it’s time to dress the pants up. Exchange your oversized sweater for an oversized sheer blouse, a fur vest (faux is of course appropriate) and a pair of pumps and you’re more than ready for evening activities.

So what do you think? Would you wear a leather pant?
