I love award shows. Not only am I actually interested in who wins what, I love the entire feel of these kinds of events. As a fashion lover, I of course pay great attention to the red carpet pre-shows to see what everyone is wearing.
This year, I was a bit disappointed in the Emmy’s red carpet style. It seemed to me as if everyone was playing it safe. Isn’t fashion all about taking risks and expessing yourself? Regardless of how I felt about the majority of the stars ensembles, I managed to find five gowns that absolutely blew me away.
The pixie haired Ginnifer Goodwin in a vintage inspired Monique Lhuillier Resort 2013 gown completely stole the show. The orange detailed gown with the high-low hem had me in awe. Not only was the dress a work of art, but also the styling was impeccable. Simple jewels in the form of ornate studs and a cocktail ring were all that this dress needed.
In my opinion, Nicole Kidman is one of the best red carpet dressers out there. Her Antonio Berardi Spring/Summer 2013 embellished sheath dress fit her like a glove, and the Christian Louboutin teal bow back heels added the perfect touch.
I normally frown upon slits in dresses that come up too high on the leg, but Heidi Klum can do no wrong. Opting to stick to spring colors (as the weather was supposedly scalding hot out in California) Klum rocked this Alexandre Vauthier gown with a touch of old Hollywood styling.
Emily VanCamp’s J.Mendel tulle pleated gown is exactly my style. This dress is completely feminine and is on trend with the drop waist, baroque-style top and greige color.
My best-dressed pick of the night easily was Hayden Panettiere in a Marchesa Spring/Summer 2013 gown. This dress was completely multifaceted giving off a Grecian vibe but at the same time reminding me of the colors of a peacock. The gold detailing under the tulle draping drew all of my attention to this ensemble.
Which one of these looks do you love?
