Celine: Furry Footwear

The French fashion house Celine shocked its conservative crowd while pleasing the furonistas present at their Pret-a-Porter Spring/Summer 2013 show by introducing fur-covered pumps in different colors.

The boudoir-look seemed to dominate the runway this year, from Louis Vuitton’s “sleepy housewife” look to H&M’s delicate, black silk negligees. In this bedroom-style frenzy, Celine was the one providing the shoes as their head designer Phoebe Philo sent these darlings down the runway, which created quite a stir on Twitter just seconds later.

The shoes are made of mink fur, dyed yellow, red, pink white, black or blue and come in a low heeled pumps-form or a sort of “Birkenstock”-style.  Having been called “Furkenstocks” and “The joke of the Season” by bloggers around the world, we still feel that mink, even on you feet, never stops looking glamorous and sexy.

Also having been featured in Vogue, In Style and Marie Claire, we know this is a look worth keeping your eyes on. Who wouldn’t love to strut around in fur slippers all day long in a silk robe, sipping on martinis looking fashionably blasé? Celine’s muse is at least one of them, according to Philo.

Set to retail for $600 at select Celine stores, our fashion eye predicts that these furbies will go quicker than butter in the sun, at least for their collectiveness. It’s true that the fur will probably hate hitting that Meatpacking-pavement, especially considering recent weather conditions.

And from experience, we know that people at Catch are just not careful enough with that cranberry juice (fur hates cranberry juice).

Just like some cats never leave the house, we suggest you keep these furry friends inside as well, and use them to stroke your boyfriend’s legs in the morning to wake him up. Fur-glove massage just got a competitor.
