It's a very sad day in the world of fashion.
Legendary women's footwear designer Vince Camuto lost his battle with cancer yesterday at the age of 78.
He passed at his home in Greenwich, Connecticut, surrounded by his family.
A Native New Yorker, Camuto was one of the original founders of footwear juggxrnaught Nine West and has since built a multi-billion dollar name for himself in the fashion industry.
He created Camuto Group, a leader in fashion industry for the development, design and distribution of women's footwear.
Camuto was always known for being both fashion forward and accessible to the average woman, creating affordable and stylish designs.
With a career spanning more than 50 years, he's been a pioneer and an essential fashion spearhead for the footwear industry in both innovation and design.
As he once said of his customers,
We don't think that we can fool her. We give her the best value.
And he certainly did.
It's a very sad event when a designer who contributed so much to make this industry so successful passes away.
