Christian Lacroix To Design A Tribute Collection For Schiaparelli

by Ally Batista

Schiaparelli is one if fashion’s most known and loved houses. However, as iconic and storied as they may be, Schiaparelli has been going through some serious changes throughout the past few years.

Diego Della Valle announced he would take charge in reviving the label, and with rumors of a new creative director have been swirling around, it’s clear that Schiaparelli is looking for a something new.

They’re in luck. It has just been confirmed that Christian Lacroix has been tapped to design a limited-edition capsule collection for the label. According to the news, Lacroix has created 15 unique pieces for the house in tribute to it’s founder, Elsa Schiaparelli, who has been honored with a Metropolitan Museum of Art, Costume Institute exhibit before.

The capsule collection will interpret Schiaparelli’s iconic creations, and will be showcased this July at 21 Vendome, the historic address where Elsa once worked, and where the fashion house is now based.

“Art, theater and cinema… my wish to reposition Elsa at the center of her maison and on the stage from which she once seduced the world,” explained Lacroix about the collaboration.

I for one and excited to see the completed collection. Two iconic French fashion forces joining together to create art? Who wouldn’t be excited?
