Barney’s New York, one of the world’s most prestigious department stores, is planning on revamping all of its Co-op stores. Major store renovations will of course be a part of this change, along with changing their merchandise.
The New York City and Los Angeles Barney’s Co-op stores, which are the two biggest locations, will get the majority of the renovations. The stores feature contemporary lines that are geared towards the younger set, and are considered to be the more “affordable” Barney’s option.
This summer, however, the co-op stores will lose their Co-op title. The stores will be renamed as Barney’s New York and undergo a bit of a change. No longer will the stores carry men’s merchandise. Designer ready to wear and more accessories will replace those products.
Does this defeat the purpose of the stores in the first place?
