Playtex Goes Risque

The women’s hygiene company Playtex has just released an interesting ad campaign for their latest product, Fresh + Sexy.

“This product was designed to address an important consumer need,” marketing director for the brand, Erik Rahner, said, “sex isn’t always a planned event that can be prepared for. With Fresh + Sexy wipes, couples now have a way to be clean and ready for even the most spontaneous moments.”

The hypoallergenic wipes retail for $5.99 to $7.99 and come in three different packaging options: a 24 wipe resealable travel pack, a singles pack with 20 individually wrapped wipes, and a 40 wipe tub.

Seems pretty standard, but what’s interesting, is Playtex’s marketing approach. One of the ads headlines “A clean beaver always gets more wood.” Or “A polished knob always gets more turns.”

Interesting, and definitely risqué. This could be the first femine product ads marketed in this way in the US. What do you think?
