Witch Sex Magic Is A Thing, And This Is How You Do It

I know it's hard to believe, but the idea behind this article didn't come from a porn search.

It came from watching "Twilight," literally like a decade after it's release.

Our society has a rich history of loving romantic movies where regular people fuck vampires, ghosts and werewolves.

If banging a vampire can bring in millions at the box office, I don't see how we haven't been scrambling to get our hands on the sexual practice that witches call "sex magic."

Sex magic is a technical term for a devotional sexual practice in witchcraft and Wicca, much like Kama Sutra is in Hinduism.

In his book, "Adventures in Sex Magick," Damon Brand writes,

You can take this basic idea to unbelievable places, where the singular moment of orgasm can be used to shake the foundations of existence and shape your destiny to your pleasing.

So basically, sex magic is a tool to manifest something for yourself- from a spiritual awakening to meeting your soul mate.

Although in traditional witchcraft, sex magic has several uses.

According to the writings of Sarah Anne Lawless, a witch, writer and illustrator,

[Sex magic] can be used as an offering for deity worship, for acting out the mysteries of the gods, to attain knowledge/awareness/inspiration, to be initiated into a tradition or mystery, to raise energy for workings, to empower sexual fluids for magical uses, to conceive, to act as Sacred Whore, to empower a working or sigil, for healing, or for flying…

I reached out to Sarah Anne to ask specifically what she meant by "flying," because if she means that literally, I gotta learn how to do this like.... right now.

When I began this article, I thought sex magic was a kinky fun game I could brag about at parties with my boyfriend, but the more research I did, the more it became clear that to those who practice it, sex magic isn't a joke.

There does seem to be differing opinions on the practice of sex magic among practitioners. Some refer to things like drinking menstrual blood, some insist on the sexual act occurring outdoors in a traditional witchcraft ritual.

For the purposes of sparing you those descriptions, and under the assumption you're not down to fuck outside in March temperatures, I'll go with the more user-friendly incarnation of the practice.

Skye Alexander, an award winning author and practitioner of magic for over 20 years, says the reasons behind why someone practices sex magic is simple. "Basically, you do sex magic for the same reason you do any other kind of magic: to cause something you desire to happen."

Alexander also insists that anybody can do sex magic, but that it does take practice and skill.

Step 1:

The first step, Alexander writes, is to slow down and decide on an objective. If you're even thinking of practicing sex magic, you probably already have an objective in mind.

If you're working with a partner, Alexander suggests discussing your objective together, so that you can both focus your undivided attention on it.

You can decide on an image, an affirmation or even just the feeling of achieving your objective.

Then comes the fun sexy-time stuff.

Sex magic encourages having just as much fun in the preliminaries as you do in the final round. Don't rush toward an orgasm, or even push for one, as this practice is all about building up as much sexual energy as possible to support your manifestation.

In fact, when you feel an orgasm coming on, the practitioners of sex magic encourage slowing down, backing off and switching from one type of stimulation to another, until you feel the orgasmic energy building up again.

Continue in this way for as long as you'd like to, keeping in mind what Alexander suggests;

"The more intense your feelings, the faster you can attract what you desire, and in this near-orgasmic state your magnetic power is tremendous."

As you harness your orgasmic energy just before releasing it, hold your objective in your mind clearly. Feel the ecstasy of achieving your desire, and then release that creative, sexual energy into the universe.

When you've achieved orgasm and finished your practice, you can relax and let go of your objective, leaving the work up to the powers that be.

And for those of you who are wondering if you can do this alone, the answer is a resounding "ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY."

Happy creating!
