Happy birthday to the duchess of ‘fits that royally slay.
To celebrate the Duchess of Sussex’s 41st birthday, here’s a look back at some of Meghan Markle’s most iconic fashion moments over the years. Thankfully, she’s given her adoring subjects a ton of looks worth cheering.
To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, Markle wore a sharp, white Dior Haute Couture coat. Her belt, gloves, and shoes all matched perfectly. In true British fashion, she topped the ‘fit off with a funky hat designed by Stephen Jones for Dior.
Continuing her all-white era, the duchess wore an oversized suit to the Invictus Games in April 2022. The double-breasted, slightly oversized blazer is giving ‘90s drama, but the wide leg pant is beyond modern.
Markle stunned in this perfect fall ‘fit while on a visit to New York City in 2021. Her fleecy coat with faux fur details, paired with a wide leg pant, is so trendy it almost hurts to look at her.
For her last appearance as an official royal on March 9, 2020, Markle glowed in a jewel green look. The star of this look is definitely her very princess-y cape. It’s elegant, classy, and has a touch of tradition thrown in as well.
Who could ever forget Markle’s cerulean blue dress from some of the most romantic photos ever taken back in March 2020? This gorgeously tailored dress popped on that rainy amidst all the black umbrellas, and yes, I still look at those photos of Harry and Meghan.
Markle slayed on the red carpet at the Annual Salute To Freedom Gala on Nov. 10, 2021. Her structured, sweeping Carolina Herrera gown was daring and bold with just a hint of a flirty neckline. Because this duchess is a class act, naturally, the gown also had a small train.
Ever the trendsetter, Markle wore TikTok’s favorite look long before creators on the app were in the know. This chocolate brown, monochromatic set she wore in January 2020 is cozy with a little shine tossed in thanks to a pop of satin.
Everyone loves a mesh moment and the Duchess of Sussex’s take on the trend on July 14, 2019, was very sophisticated. With her dress’ full skirt and tight bodice, the mesh sleeves and neckline were a great way to break up all the heavy black.
Markle’s maternity fashion was also off the charts. While pregnant with Archie, the duchess wore this custom vintage, brocade dress designed by Erdem to the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance on November 09, 2019.
When it comes to Markle’s iconic fashion moments, obviously her wedding dress is high among the ranks. Designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy, the gown’s simple trumpet silhouette and trailing train, were just what the doctor ordered for a royal wedding.
Although this white coat look might not jump out at you, Markle’s new accessory definitely makes this look one for the books. On her hand, you can see her brand new (at the time) engagement ring!
This look from Markle’s CAFA portrait is giving total girlboss, especially when you take a moment to really let her power pose sink it. Go on. I’ll wait. This Jason Wu dress has a subtle slit and is so well-designed that it fits her like a second skin.
Back in her acting days, Markle was so ahead of the trends. She rocked wide-legged pants long before they became a fashion staple when she wore them back in June 2015. She even went a little flirty by adding in a sheer shirt.
During a Gala on Oct. 2, 2013, Markle opted for a graphic dress. The black-and-green bodycon number is sharp and streamlined, fitting in perfectly with the very New Yorker sense of style she had at the time.
Back when she was only known for Suits, Markle was no stranger to cutting up a red carpet, and over the years, her fashion is still timeless. Although her off-the-shoulder, sequined dress from 2012 isn’t her current style, it’s still stylin’.
