In sad and unfortunate news, legendary pro wrestler Dusty Rhodes passed away today at age 69.

While the reason for his death is still unknown at the time, the wrestling world is now in shock as it mourns the loss of one of the greatest performers to ever step into the squared circle.

According to the official WWE website,

WWE is deeply saddened that Virgil Runnels, aka 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes — WWE Hall of Famer, three-time NWA Champion and one of the most captivating and charismatic figures in sports entertainment history — passed away today at the age of 69.

Dusty was, of course, most known for his epic rivalry with Ric Flair during the 80s, and that helped turn pro wrestling into the commercial success it is today.

However, it was his powerful "hard times" promo in 1985 that cemented him as one of the all-time greats.

He leaves behind four children; two of them, Goldust and Stardust, currently wrestle in the WWE.

We will have more information on the story once it becomes made available.
