Tucson is the place to be this Saturday night, when the UCLA Bruins travel to play the Arizona Wildcats for the game of the weekend.
In a sporting sense, the primetime matchup sees the two teams extend their fierce rivalry on the basketball court onto the field at Arizona stadium.
In a general sense, it's a game between two universities that are among the most attractive on the West Coast. Both of these institutions pull students from all over the country looking to match a good education with an even better campus experience.
But whose experience is better?
It's a question we obviously cannot answer from a distance, so we enlisted the help of a few students and alumni from both schools to settle this campus rivalry.
UCLA
Westwood is situated right in between two of the richest cities in America, Brentwood and Beverly Hills. The atmosphere really illuminates the LA lifestyle. The fact that we are 10 minutes away from Hollywood in one direction and Santa Monica Beach in the other makes UCLA unique. - CJ Burton
Arizona
Tucson has a million people but still retains such a small-town community vibe. The UA is at the center of that community and life in Tucson between August and May seems to revolve around the campus. That being said there are beautiful hikes and bike rides nearby that allow you to escape a little. - Leo O.
UCLA
We are used to winning and doing it often, so the fact we have not been relevant in football for the last two decades is really quite surprising for everything that UCLA has stood for athletically. Just the fact we have begun our rise among the national ranks has brought about a newfound enthusiasm on campus during this time of year. - CJ Burton
Arizona
ZonaZoo, our student section, is the largest in the Pac-12, so it's like being in a sea of red at the games. Our scoreboard is also one of the biggest in the nation, so even if we lose... we can see it from miles away. - Leo O.
UCLA
The best event is UCLA Spring Sing. Its a huge, school-wide competition that takes place in Pauley Pavillion each Spring Quarter and puts on display singers and musicians among our student body. Great event with lots of guest appearances and a great way to showcase our student body's talent and diversity. - CJ Burton
Arizona
Have to give a shoutout to spring fling. A huge, student-run carnival that boasts food, rides, music, etc.. The fraternities and sororities host parties and events the whole week, and the clubs on campus come together to help run the carnival. - Leo O.
UCLA
This is hard because there are so many. I'd have to say:
1. Jackie Robinson
2. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
3. Arthur Ashe
Arizona
1. Jerry Bruckheimer
2. Karl Eller
3. Rob Gronkowski
UCLA
Hands down, drunkchies goes to Fat Sals (Turtle from "Entourage" is part owner). In-N-Out, LaMonica's New York Pizza and Enzo's aren't bad either. - Kevin B
Arizona
We keep it classic here in the desert: Taco Bell and McDonald's. Might as well be five-star cuisine if you don't remember eating it. - Tyler B.
UCLA
UCLA is the most applied to school in the country, so a ton of people don't get in. It might be a case of envy or regret on other students part for not getting in, but I feel that other students really think we have it made. Great academics, research opportunities, alumni network, athletics and living in Westwood carries with it a lot of weight. - CJ Burton
Arizona
What's not to love? Highly regarded programs in a variety of disciplines, great campus atmosphere where you can't walk to class without seeing a friend. It's a big school that feels like a small school. - Leo O.
UCLA
At watch parties and viewings. Sometimes that could be a fraternity house or bars. It's really about the company. - Kevin B.
Arizona
Frog & Firkin on game days. There'll be a line down the street by the time they open so you better kick your Friday night hangover early. - Tyler B.
UCLA
Everything is pretty beautiful at night. The middle of campus. The botanical garden. The sculpture garden. Climbing to the top of Royce towers at night. - Kevin B.
Arizona
Everywhere because anywhere you are you can see the Arizona sky and mountains in every direction and it's literally the most beautiful thing to surrounded by. - Keren B.
Underrated Campus Attraction
UCLA
The UCLA Planetarium. - Matthew J.
Arizona
Rooftop pools, we have three high-rise apartments that each has a pool over 14-stories in the air that overlooks the entire city and campus. - Tyler B.
UCLA
Because we created the Internet. This survey would not exist if not for UCLA. - Matthew J.
Arizona
It's paradise, it's a sports hotbed, but most of all, it's a one-of-a-kind school where everyone feels like they're a part of something bigger than themselves. Plus any Californians who are worth hanging out with are already here. - Tyler B.
