I hate pretty much everything about flying. The whole experience leaves me stressed, tired and with a kink in my neck because those stupid U-shaped pillows don't do jack.
But the first time I flew, I thought it was absolutely amazing. I was almost 18, older than most people when they first fly, and I felt that people assumed I was a jet-setter.
I think I even wore sunglasses to the airport. Now, I wear sweatpants and my "do-not-speak-to-me" bitch face.
But that first flight is magical.
Sue, a woman in her 60s, just recently got to experience her first flight, and her joy was so apparent that her seat mate couldn't help but live-tweet her adventure.
On Monday, Elaine Filadelfo was talking to the woman beside her when she found out that she had never been on a plane before, but she wanted to surprise her daughter who had just moved.
She wasn't the only one who was charmed by Sue's excitement.
Virgin America upgraded her ticket, and the pilots came out to greet her and took a few photographs so she remembered every detail of her trip.
Sue wasn't even bothered that her flight was delayed two hours.
It's totally natural to feel nervous during takeoff, especially if it's your first flight.
Filadelfo offered Sue her hand during the trying time.
However, when she was in the air, she absolutely loved it. She looked out the window and even waved down to the ground.
I used to always see planes up there and wonder what the people are like and if they're waving.
BUT THEN MY POOR, SWEET, INNOCENT SUE -- A CINNAMON BUN TOO GOOD FOR THIS WORLD, TOO PURE -- WAS SHOCKED BY TURBULENCE.
Before she knew it, the plane landed safely. Sue said,
That's it?!... That was fast!
Sue's daughter has also never been on a flight. She said,
Now I can take her and show her it's OK!
