This Major Twitter Feature Could Soon Be Missing From Celebrities' Accounts

Our days of lightly trolling celebrities on Twitter are over, thanks to a new app called Engage.

It's been dressed up as a way for online "influencers" to better manage their accounts. But in reality, it's just a big piece of red tape between fans and their idols.

Engage filters the feeds of Twitter users with large followings. It notifies them when other "influencers" follow them and only shows mentions from the most important people.

Twitter wrote on its blog,

Twitter Engage surfaces the most important follows and @mentions from influencers and loyal fans.

Engage has been summed up beautifully in this tweet:

Engage also comes with a tool that rounds up data super easily. It reviews tweets and lets the user know how each tweet performed.

Describing the new app, Twitter explained,

Twitter Engage, a new companion app for Twitter, is available today and provides real-time data and insights, allowing you to quickly understand, engage, and grow your audiences. As creators, influencers, and public figures, you have a special connection with your followers on Twitter. Through Tweets, you can share content and have conversations with fans and other influencers in real time — and now we've made it easier to manage those daily interactions and measure success.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if it makes a difference.
