We hate to admit it, but it's unfortunately true: Alcohol just isn't really good for us. While most of us love having the occasional drink (or seven), we also all know alcohol isn't exactly doing our bodies any favors.

Many of us have woken up from a night of boozing, only to be horrified by the red, puffy face staring us in the mirror.

We've gone off to college and discovered beer is actually kind of great, right before realizing adding thousands of extra calories to our weekend regime will significantly expand our waistlines.

So, yeah: Alcohol isn't your body's best friend, no matter how often we bring them together.

A popular section of Reddit – r/stopdrinking – aims to act as a support community for those who are struggling with alcoholism and embracing sobriety.

The subreddit is filled with people posting recovery stories, commiserating over their issues and sharing before and after pictures that show off the drastic body changes they experienced when they gave up drinking.

The photos are an amazing reminder of what sobriety can do to a person.

The people in these before and after photos look dramatically healthier and happier.
