An innocent raccoon was taken hostage by a sewer grate and the look on its adorable little face just before it was rescued is priceless.

Let's just say this raccoon's facial expression is every single one of us when we realize that summer is actually coming to an end.

According to Mashable, it all went down in Northampton, Massachusetts when police discovered a poor raccoon with its head trapped in a hole connected to a sewer drain. The little dude's face just screams "a little help here?!"

Look at that face.

Don't worry, we can laugh about it now. A skilled animal control officer was able to use a few drops of cooking oil to slip the raccoon's head out from between the metal grate.

After being saved from the mean, incredibly possessive sewer grate and being nursed back to good health, the raccoon was eventually released back into its natural habitat.

Things didn't start off too well for this little raccoon but he's safe now. And, to top it all off, we got a happy ending and a relatable meme out of it.

Raccoon, you are an inspiration to us all. You're living proof that even in the darkest of times, it pays to be optimistic and confident that everything will be OK.

That metal thing in the ground never stood a chance. Cheers to you, little guy.
