How Digital Creator Sisters Tatyanna & Cammy Elliott Keep Dancing Together In A Socially Distant World

by Bustle Studios

Many of us have fond childhood memories of recording home movies from the living room with our best friends, cousins, or siblings. Few of us went the extra step and made a full-time job out of it. Digital creators-slash-sister team Tatyanna (@tatycake) and Cammy Elliott (@jammincammy) are just one success story of transforming a fun at-home pastime with your favorite person into a creative calling.

The Elliott sisters are known for their fashion tip videos, inspirational content, and (most notably) their viral dance routines that they perform together. The decision to join forces was just as natural as it was that their medium would be dance. "We've both been dancing all our lives," says Tatyanna, the big sister. "It’s an emotional and creative outlet. If we’re happy we want to dance, when we're sad we want to dance, and even when we're angry.” And they both bring different styles to the table. As little sister Cammy says, her sister is a whiz at technical and contemporary dance, while her specialty is hip hop. (For the record, neither sister claimed to be the better dancer.)

“Cammy and I are really close, we have a sister bond but also a creative bond," says Tatyanna. "Sometimes it feels like we read each other's minds.” Cammy adds, "We feed off each others energy, and we have plenty to teach one another. We’re both so loving and supportive of one another."

While they have a great time doing this work, the job of digital creating is just that — a job. “Being a content creator is actually a lot of work," says Cammy. "I spend a lot of time on my videos to make sure that they’re perfect, because I want people to love them.”

It may start with a simple idea, but from there you have to worry about the details: lighting, styling, HMU (hair and makeup), and getting things looking just right. Then there's the actual filming, and the editing process. In this line of work, you need a great phone like the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G to keep up with you.

“As a digital creator, I’m constantly using my phone," says Tatyanna. "I need it all the time to connect with anyone — for videos, photos, inspiration, to create with Cammy." These many demands call for a phone that can do as much as these sisters, and lately, they're loving the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G. They can easily multitask, using their phones to film while chatting, uploading, and researching because of the turbo-fast 5G speeds. And will the phone run out of juice? Nope! The charge stays strong because of the phone's upgraded battery life.

Most importantly, their videos come out as clear and gorgeous as possible, thanks to the Quad and HD cameras, and a huge 6.7" screen. “The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G produces such great, crisp video," says Cammy. "Plus, I need a phone with a big screen so I can make sure my outfits and dances look perfect." What's more, they can keep all the videos right there on the phone without leaning on the cloud. The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G also comes with 128G of memory, snd up to 1TB with the purchase of a microSD card. Basically, it's the ultimate creative tool and an influencer's best friend.

Particularly in the socially distant world of 2020, there's another thing to consider when these sisters film. With shelter-in-place restrictions in their home state of California, they can't film in the same place. "We used to see each other every day," says Cammy. "But now things are more complicated." Yet again, phones to the rescue. Thanks to the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G, they've been able to continue making videos together, even if they're physically remote. "Phones have been such a life saver during this time," says Tatyanna. "Obviously it’s a way for us to keep our connection alive. It’s almost like we’re together even though we’re apart." Consider the dual sister/creative bond uninterrupted.

In addition to staying connected with one another, they can stay in touch with their public with the help of the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G. Cammy says her favorite part of the creative process is having a finished product for she and her sister to share with the world. "I love being able to look at my hard work and creativity, and also seeing peoples’ reactions and feedback.” Seeing people recreate the videos adds to the impact, and creates a community that the sisters love to engage with. “Once a video is uploaded, I feel so happy because it’s like a creative piece of my soul is being released to everyone," Tatyanna says. "I just hope that they feel a little piece of the magic I felt when I was creating.”
