10 Things You Definitely Missed In The 'Avengers: Infinity War' Trailer

Marvel

One of the joys of a shared universe is all the in-house references and Easter Eggs dotted throughout the plot for the hardcore fans to find. In a cross-over event movie of intergalactic proportions like Avengers: Infinity War, they're simply inevitable. As always, being based from the world of comics means we get references from two directions, both from the already established MCU properties that span over a dozen movies and from the source material. Let's run down all the Avengers: Infinity War trailer Easter Eggs we can find.

The biggest is that all our friends are separate, like in the original Avengers. Once again, they need to come together as a team. It's a tale as old as superhero team-up films, like 1999's The X-Men. Except this time, it's not isolated freaks. It's groups of them. There's Team Cap, who have been in hiding since the events of Civil War. There's Iron Man and Friends, now including Dr. Strange, who are struggling to stay on the side of the law. There's Bucky and the Wakandian Crew. There's Thor, out in space and time, who just met a random motley crew who include a Teenage Talking Tree. Can they join up in time to fight the good fight?

So where have you seen that image before? Or why *does* that line seem so familiar? Let's run down all the callbacks and Easter Eggs tucked away in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer.

The Avengers Opening Words

There was an idea. To bring together a group of remarkable people. To see if we could become something more. So when they needed us, we could fight the battles that they never could.

This is a call back to Nick Fury's first major speech in the first Avengers movie, after Coulson was murdered.

It's one they've played as part of the "Avengers Assemble" featurette as well. Fantastic callback.

Infinity Gauntlet

First seen in Odin's trophy room way back in the very first Thor movie, now worn by Thanos, this object supposedly gives the bearer power over all aspects of the universe, via the six stones that sit in it: Time, Space, Mind, Soul, Reality, and Power.

Infinity Stones

Where are they? Well, we see Loki has the Tesseract, which we've been assuming he stole. That holds the Space Stone. The Mind Stone in what's in Vision's head and made him "a real boy". The Power Stone is in the keeping of Nova Corps, and we assume Thanos stealing it will be what brings the Guardians into this game.

As for Reality, Time, and Soul, the first was last seen with the Collector in a post credits sequence, the second in in Nepal with Dr. Strange's crew, and the last is unknown, but assumed to be in Wakanda, for lack of anywhere better.

One Vision

Marvel

Speaking of Vision, he's going to have an awful headache after Thanos pulls that gem from his forehead. But what's with the more Human Vision we see with Scarlet Witch? Could she be using her powers in an unsafe manner? (If so, that's right out of the comics and the House of M.)

Spidey Senses

Well it's about time his spidey senses started tingling. Danger is here!

Blonde Widow

One of my favorites, Johansson's choice to stick with her own hair is also a callback to a second, different Black Widow, Yelena Belova.

Thor Pulls A Cap

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

The prosecution rests.

Bucky In Wakanda

We've known that's where Captain America sent his best friend to be kept safe. It looks like it did wonders for Bucky's hair. Also? New arm, no star. The Winter Soldier is dead.

Iron Spider

One of the things we're all waiting for is to see how many heroes fall in sixths two-parter. Robert Downey Jr. has been out of contract for a while now, and is getting tired of the character, so Iron Man is an odds on favorite for a funeral. Does Peter Parker's Iron Spider suit mean he's stepping up to take the old man's place?

Who the Hell Are You Guys?

The only Chris we're missing at this point is Pine.

Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters everywhere May 4, 2018.
