A Canadian dominatrix won $1.5 million after a judge ruled she only entered this line of work due to brain injuries she suffered in a car accident.

Daily Mail reports that Alissa Afonina, 24, was in the top 2 percent of her high school class and was well on her way to achieving her dreams of becoming a director or actress.

Those dreams were shattered when she got into a car accident in August of 2008 right as her senior year was about to begin.

After she recovered, Afonina, from British Columbia, went back to school but clearly was not the same.

She would regularly disrupt the class, use sexually inappropriate language and ultimately could not complete her work.

After isolating herself from her peers, Afonina dropped out of school and finished the rest of her senior year at home.

She had a brief stint at college before transforming into a dominatrix named Sasha Mizaree.

Afonina's lawyers took her mother's ex-boyfriend, who was driving the car during the crash, to court last January.

They claimed the young woman's brain injury rendered her unable to maintain another kind of job, limiting her potential and financial stability.

The lawyers also said she displayed a lack of "correct thinking" by entering the sex industry and now engages in dangerous sexual acts due to an inability to comprehend the potentially harmful consequences.

Justice Joel Grove ruled that even though Afonina is able to keep appointments and support herself, her poor judgment has resulted in her not taking protective measures at work such as utilizing an alarm system in case of injury or assault.

He noted how academically successful Afonina was before the crash and that her altered brain can only handle entry-level work for just a few hours at a time.

As a result, Afonina was awarded $825,000 for "future capacity loss," $376,000 for future medical care, $300,000 for the suffering she has endured and $23,000 for "special damages," according to Daily Mail.

Had she been able to graduate from college, the judge concluded, Afonina would not have considered a career in the sex industry.
