Footage Of Boston Bomber Flipping The Camera Off In His Cell Is Released

by Emily Arata

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, best known as the Boston Marathon bomber, may have sealed his fate by showing off on recently released security camera footage.

During the 21-year-old's ongoing trial on Wednesday, WBUR reports jurors were shown a still image of a Tsarnaev in his holding cell, flipping his middle finger at the camera, before viewing a longer video version.

The July 2013 clip shows Tsarnaev noticing the camera and using its reflective surface to fix his hair before flashing the peace sign and the bird in quick succession.

The Independent reports the prosecution presented the footage as evidence Tsarnaev, who faces the death penalty for his role in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, is not sorry for the damage and deaths he caused.

His defense team alleges these are the actions of a then-teenager messing around in his free time.

This video may be the final straw in determining whether Tsarnaev, who was convicted of all 3o different counts, will live or die.

The jury first viewed a still frame from the video prosecutor Nadine Pellegrini alleges is representative of Tsarnaev's "message" to the US.

The video followed thereafter.
