Forget Alcohol: Smoking Weed Could Actually Be The Real Boner-Killer
For many, weed and sex go hand in hand. You get a little buzzed, then you bang.
In moderation, that's perfectly fine.
But if you always light up before you get down, be warned: According to sex researcher Justin Lehmiller, too much bud could kill your boner — for good.
In a recent article for Playboy, the professional sexpert revealed frequent marijuana use, in several studies, limited a man's ability to perform sexually.
He explained,
Consistent with the idea that higher doses of cannabis may be problematic, research has found that the prevalence of erectile dysfunction is three times as high for daily marijuana smokers compared to those who don't use it at all.
Lehmiller noted these findings are in direct contrast with the increase in sexual stamina some males report after having sex while stoned.
He theorized the drug's tendency to distort a user's perception of time is likely the reason for this apparent conflict between some users' accounts and study findings. Still, Lehmiller conceded,
While this research suggests that marijuana is likely to be an erection inhibitor, the answer is probably a bit more complicated than this. We need a lot more hard data (pun fully intended) to understand why different guys report experiencing different sexual effects.
The takeaway? Don't get hung up on the hard facts. Do what feels good, and the rest will come naturally (and yes, that pun was also fully intended).
