Husband And Wife Arrested For Each Having Sex With An Underage Student
A husband and wife who teach at the same school were both arrested for having sex with students.
James "Jamie" Franklin Parker, 32, is a math teacher at Carrollton, Alabama's Pickens Academy, where his wife, 30-year-old Charli Parker, teaches physical education and computer classes, according to Daily Mail.
On Monday, Charli Parker, who also coaches the private school's girls' basketball team, was arrested for allegedly having sex with a male student under the age of 19. She allegedly had sex with the student at least 11 times in several locations, including a cemetery, between October 2014 and March 2016, CBS News reports.
On Wednesday, only two days after Charli's arrest, her husband was also arrested for having sex with a student under the age of 19.
That female student no longer appears to attend Pickens Academy, which is a pre-K through 12th-grade school, but she was in a longterm sexual relationship with Jamie Parker.
District Attorney Chris McCool said the charges against the husband and wife for sleeping with students are "separate and unrelated in place and manner of commission."
All of the sexual activity between the two teachers and their students did not occur on school grounds, McCool added.
Pickens Academy released a statement saying Charli Parker was suspended, though it's unclear if her husband, who coaches basketball and football for the school, was officially suspended as well. Charli Parker may be subject to “further action” once an investigation is completed, the statement said, according to AL.com.
The Parkers have reportedly been married since 2010 and may have a young son together.
Both are charged with a Class B felony and could go to prison for up to 20 years.
