Domestic Violence Victim Sings Chilling Song To Bring Awareness To Abuse (Video)

by Anna Menta

Unfortunately, so many women today have stories about abusive partners.

Many cases go unreported, and many see no justice. It can be extremely difficult to come forward in an abusive situation, and while no choice is the wrong one, Darrian Amaker decided to share her story with the world this week.

In a powerful video she posted to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence Facebook page, Darrian filmed herself singing in the hospital after a domestic abuse attack.

In the post, Darrian said a little over a month ago, her then-boyfriend physically abused her. She described the experience, writing,

A few days after Thanksgiving this past year, my Love went straight psychotic and beat me brutally for ten hours. He had planned it out; I was supposed to die. I survived or escaped, whatever you want to call it, and spent four days in the hospital, eyes swollen shut, wondering why, wondering why.

In the video, bruises are clearly visible on her face, and her eyes appear swollen. She went on to say her abusive partner was since charged with six felonies and faces prison time.

Darrian said she does not usually record herself, but she wanted to share this video to raise awareness of the widespread epidemic of domestic violence.

The song she sings describes her experience, and many commented in support, as well as shared their experiences of abuse.
