Here's How To Become One Of The First People To Own An iPhone 7

Another year, another new iPhone: The much-anticipated (and slightly controversial) iPhone 7 and 7 plus are being released today at 1 pm.

Even though Apple is taking away our beloved headphone jack and switching it out for an updated wireless setup, we're still excited.

The higher-quality selfie and rear cameras – along with the addition of a wide angle lens on the back – are reason enough to nab the new phone ASAP. Oh, and let's not forget about the new colors, and the fact that it's more water-resistant.

OK, so here's the deal: Today, Apple is throwing a huge bash for their new baby at 1 pm ET, where they will let the world see what it actually looks like and show off some new updates.

I'm envisioning a "Lion King" type situation, like when Mufasa lifts Simba up over the kingdom and all the animals go nuts.

But you won't be able to pre-order the iPhone 7 until Friday, September 9. This is according to a fairly credible source of information called @evleaks, which has been on the money for previous iPhone pre-sales and sale dates.

What about in terms of when you can actually hold it in your hands? Well, it's rumored that the date may be one week after the pre-sale. So that's either September 16 or the following Friday, September 23.

This information is based on a leaked document from phone carrier AT&T. This schedule would also be standard in terms of Apple's previous phone releases.

But we'll know the real answer soon enough.

For now, just be ready this Friday to hit that pre-sale HARD. The iPhone is rumored to be priced at $649 for 32GB of storage.

By the way, Apple won't be making 16GB phones anymore. Because honestly, what the hell are we supposed to do with only 16GB anyway?! Thanks, Apple.

Can't make it to San Fransisco for the launch? That's OK. You can still watch it all go down live here... but only if you're using an Apple product, of course.
