Babysitter Fired After Mom Finds Video Of Her Baby Being Harmed On Facebook

YouTube

A babysitter is being investigated after a video emerged online of her placing a toddler under a water bucket at Greenwood splash pad in Indiana.

The distressing 24-second footage – which went viral last week – shows a woman standing behind 7-month-old Annora Anderson as she sits and splashes around on the ground.

A huge bucket fills with water above, before it comes crashing down on the infant's head. Annora shakes and screams after the impact. The sitter then snatches her away and carries her off.

Annora's mother, Brittany Dixson, 19, told IndyStar she was "literally hysterically crying" when she saw the video. "I was shaking," she added.

The baby was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but was not found to be injured.

Desiree Howell, a mother at the park, was the one who caught the horrifying scene on camera. She then posted it to Facebook, where it has since had hundreds of thousands of hits.

She told IndyStar,

Every cell in my body wanted to go grab that baby and keep her safe, but the way people are these days, you never know what could have happened.

The police were alerted to the incident. According to Greenwood Police Department assistant chief, Matthew Fillenwarth, they have referred the case to the Indiana Department of Child Services.
