6 Reasons Why You Don’t Have To Be Single To Be Successful
If you’re success-driven, that means you’re a go-getter.
Whether you’re success-minded, a driven entrepreneur or an ambitious hustler with six different projects on the go and a ton of aspirations, you’re headed for the top. The journey to success, however, does not need to be a lonely one.
Although successful people are often perpetually focused and busy, that doesn’t mean they don’t have time for relationships. Similarly, if you’re a driven individual on the path to success, as focused as you are, you don’t have to be single in order to make it to the top.
Here are six reasons why it doesn’t have to be lonely at the top:
1. You’re not the only one with ambition
It is considered a rare quality to have true ambition.
I’m referring to the type of people who really go after success and who will do whatever it takes to accomplish their goals: late nights, early mornings, five jobs, side projects, thinking outside the box and a whole lot of networking.
While not everyone has this drive, plenty of people do. If you meet someone who shares your ambitious personality and is just as much of a go-getter, you will understand each other and a relationship could work.
You will both have busy schedules, and you likely both work extra hours if you’re both ambitious. Therefore, you will value your time together rather than whining about the fact that there’s not enough time for each other.
Dating like-minded individuals is key. While you’re chasing your dream, your partner is chasing his or hers. That means he or she is just happy to have someone with whom to relax whenever there’s that little bit of precious downtime.
2. There are supporters out there, not just haters
While some people will be resentful of your success, jealous of your drive and doubtful of your gift, the opposite type of person does exist: the supporters.
If you meet someone supportive, he or she will lift you up and encourage you while you are trying to get to where you want to be. Instead of being demanding of your time, this person will inspire you to chase your dreams.
Instead of dragging you down with doubts or negativity, this person will be there when you need some encouragement or someone on whom to practice that pitch. When someone believes in you, he or she helps you believe in yourself.
If you’re ever feeling inadequate, a supportive significant other will guide you in the right direction by trumping your self-limiting attitudes with support and encouragement.
A supportive partner can help you break free from the metaphorical prison bars that are holding you back, because everything is a lot less overwhelming when someone truly believes in you.
3. A healthy relationship will motivate you to stay on course
Having someone reliable in our lives who inspires us to be the best versions of ourselves helps us stay on course and keeps us motivated.
Your significant other should be the perfect person off of whom to bounce ideas because he or she truly cares about you and your endeavors and wants to see you succeed.
If you feel lost, this person is there for you and planning surprises for each other, such as rewards for hard work, is a great motivational tool.
4. Dating doesn’t have to be exhausting
You may think you don’t have time to date, or time to meet someone. You're too exhausted, too busy and you can't get let anyone get in the way of your success.
That, however, is the wrong mindset. All you have to do is date efficiently and then, meeting someone is easy. There are plenty of really easy-to-use dating apps, such as PlentyOfFish and Tinder, and many ways to efficiently online date.
Busy people often use online dating, as it is one of the simplest ways to connect with someone. Once you meet someone like-minded, you won’t exhaust each other with expectations or demands because you are both success-driven.
5. Hustlers need to de-stress, and the key is a good distraction
Sometimes when you’re chasing a dream, you find it difficult to relax. Your mind is always in six different places at once, and the ability to chill out is a constant struggle, especially if you aren't yet where you want to be.
Having a significant other with whom to spend quality time is the key to relaxation. The vitality you need to keep a handle on your side projects can be easily lost if you are too stressed out.
Sometimes, all you need is a good distraction, like focusing on your significant other for a while.
6. A mood-enhancing relationship is good for your well-being and your success
Allotting time for yourself and your own needs is important. One of your needs is likely companionship, and you shouldn’t deny yourself of a relationship.
Even though you’re just fine on your own, having someone who is truly there for you is good for your well-being and, therefore, good for your success. You can stay on course with your goals, yet still have time for a date night once a week, with your partner.
Granting yourself these breaks will not break your focus, it will do the opposite: It will re-energize you. A date with your special someone will help lift your spirits, and a good mood is imperative to your success.
If you’re feeling happy, you’ll have better ideas, more energy and increased drive. It should not be lonely at the top.
