We have all heard the expression "less is more" at one point or another over the course of our lives. It is such a simple phrase, but one that holds immense meaning. It can be applied to virtually any and all aspects of life, although people fail to do so. This expression should be more like a mantra, as the meaning behind it is so applicable.

Clutter leads to anxiety and stress, which is why the "simple life" is ideal. You need to pick and choose your priorities in life so you can garner the best results for yourself. Don’t waste your valuable time dealing with things that serve no purpose to you. Prioritization is crucial and the time you spend in your 20s is what is going to set the pace for the rest of your life.

“When you get into the simplifying habit, things become much easier. Quality results are more likely to be achieved. Life becomes more fun and enjoyable. The pace of life becomes closer to what it should be.” –Ali Davies

You are in control of your state of mind, so keeping things as simple as possible without stressing yourself out should be your main focus. Don’t waste time on things that are of little importance to you. Compare the items on your to-do list and start checking things off in order of their relevance.

If something is more time sensitive than something else, then it is best to work on that task first. Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it? Priorities are everything and until you recognize which ones are most important in your life, then you will be wasting your time.

True happiness comes from surrounding yourself with people whom you love and who love you in return. If the people you surround yourself with are bringing you down, then it’s time to trim the fat. I guarantee once you eliminate the negative people in your life, you will be that much happier. Why would you choose to spend time with people who are holding you back when you can surround yourself with people who can elevate you?

“You attract the energy you put out. The universe will keep sending you problems and annoyances that hit an issue you have within yourself as long as they remain useful to you. Once that issue is resolve, the problem no longer stimulates your personal evolution and therefore no longer needs to happen. Happiness therefore lies within a shifting of perspectives in the present moment. Choose freedom. Choose liberation. Move from panic to freedom and watch a world of magic and bliss open itself up to you.” -Anonymous

Of course you may feel obligations towards people that meant so much to you in the past, but the reality is that if they are not improving your present then they have no business being there. Life is too short to constantly preoccupy yourself with ideas such as this. People will always come and go that’s just the way life works. At one point in your life a friend will be exactly what you need, but as you grow and change as a person, that friend may no longer serve in your best interest.

In life, there is a time and place for everything. It is so hard to make real progress when you are stumbling over old roadblocks. Look around at your immediate surroundings. If there is something that is not bringing value and meaning to your life, then get rid of it. Do not feel obligated to hold on to something that is only making you miserable. You owe it to yourself to lead the best possible life you can.

Clarity is something many people seek in life but few are able to obtain. By simplifying your life, you can help to clear the clutter in your head. Focusing on the present moment is crucial; if you spend your time wallowing in the past or worrying about the future, you are only going to stress yourself out. Actively engage yourself in what you are currently doing and immerse yourself fully. Appreciate the fact that you are able to do whatever it is you are doing and realize how fortunate you are in shaping your own life.
