Understanding how to use the power of attraction to know when it is possible to manifest what you truly want is an impressive life trait.

For the most part, you can have whatever you desire, but occasionally, you are wasting your time, wishing for things over which you have no control.

We learned this valuable lesson as children, but you may not have even noticed.

The Genie in "Aladdin" laid down the law after Aladdin rubbed the lamp. It was introduced by quite a good jingle explaining the four things Aladdin could not wish for:

1. Someone to fall in love with him

2. Bring someone back from the dead

3. Someone to die

4. The limit was three wishes and he could not wish for more

Even though it is not as easy as rubbing a lamp, finding a genie and making three wishes, this story offers a relevant lesson: When you are trying to manifest the life you want, the same rules apply.

1. You cannot make someone love you.

This is one of the hardest things to comprehend when you are in a relationship or infatuated with someone who is not interested in you. No matter what you do or say, you cannot control how another person feels, even if you care for him or her deeply.

You may be able to get the person to notice you, but no matter how hard you try, you cannot control someone's heart. Trying to do so will result in a lot of wasted energy and time.

This is not to say you shouldn't go after that hottie because he or she hasn't noticed you yet, or you should not be persistent, but you know when you are wasting your time. The best thing to do is to let go and be grateful for the time you spent together.

Gratitude for love will attract love from someone better suited for you.

2. You cannot bring someone back from the dead.

When you lose someone you love, it quite literally feels as though there is a knife cutting through the very depths of your soul, like someone reached into your body and crushed your heart.

So, we hold on. We think about the person; we go over our memories in an attempt to engrave them into our minds. Breathing is hard, sleeping is impossible and waking up is just a repeat of how you felt when you first found out.

Death is one of the hardest things to accept, move past and stay strong through. But, it is an inevitable challenge we all face.

It will happen to you; it will happen to your family and your friends. Losing someone cannot stop you; you cannot quit, and most of all, you cannot bring the person back, no matter how much you dwell on the situation.

You will never forget those you loved, as love is eternal. As hard as it may be, try to recite your memories with love and gratitude. Doing so will make you feel closer, not further away.

3. You cannot wish for someone to die.

Holding hatred in your heart is by far the most detrimental thing you can do to yourself.

Hatred will block you from reaching your true purpose and full potential; it will hurt you and those you love. When you see even a glimpse of hate in your heart, check yourself quickly or things will go south, fast.

4. You cannot wish for more wishes.

Manifesting something big in your life requires the same amount of passion, obsession and heartfelt feeling as does the first two situations. You will never be the greatest unless you think about being the greatest most of the time.

When manifesting your hopes and dreams, you may have many goals, and you can, in fact, attain every last one of them. But, it is very important to remember that your goals are like wishes and you are the law of attraction.

Focusing wholeheartedly on three goals at a time will allow you to utilize all your power to attain them. Having more than three main goals at once will make your vibration fuzzy and your attention unfocused, and you'll be much less likely to succeed.
