Serena Williams won the US Open's Women's Singles championship yesterday when she beat Russian star Victoria Azarenka at Arthur Ashe Stadium. While most commentators and analysts focused on William's competitive drive and grit, there was one thing I couldn't stop thinking about: Azarenka's annoying grunt.
It has been well documented and spoken about before, but the noise Azarenka makes whenever she hits the ball has to be one of the most annoying sounds in professional sports. Unlike the typical baritone grunt that most tennis players release, Azarenka has this high-pitched "woooo" that sounds like a cross bewteen a horn and a sneeze.
