Girl Makes Incredible $40 Version Of $6,000 Louboutins For Sister's Prom
How far would you go to make a sibling happy?
If you know anything about being a teenager, you know when it comes to major events in your life, like your 18th birthday or your high school prom, it's all about looking good and having the latest gear.
These days, it's all about the Christian Louboutins -- you know, the severely overpriced, red-soled high heels that have been flying off the shelves for the past few years. Unfortunately, they're not cheap... especially if you don't have a job.
When you're in high school, your education is your first job. Everything else comes second. And your parents certainly won't be shelling out almost $6,000 for a pair of shoes.
Fortunately for one girl, good siblings exist!
We came across an interesting post on Reddit published by ethical_rhyme. This Redditor decided to take the matter into her own hands (literally) by crafting her sister a pair of Christian Louboutin high heels for her prom. Her budget? Just $40!
She even crafted a pair of rhinestone-studded flats in case the heels became a pain.
What a great and extremely patient sister! Check out her process below.
A Redditor's sister wanted a pair of Christian Louboutin high heels to wear to her prom.
Since they were so expensive, her sister came to her rescue and made an identical pair with a $40 budget!
After buying an inexpensive pair of Steve Madden heels, she painted the shoes blue.
Next, she taped the edges...
...and painted the soles red! In addition to the red paint, she used a coat of polyurethane for shininess.
But wait, she still wasn't done. She had to put the rhinestones on!
This is the part where patience was imperative.
She began putting the different-sized blue rhinestones all over the shoes.
Almost there!
Just like that, they were done!
An expensive pair of shoes made with just a $40 budget... Impressive, huh?
She even made her a pair of flats in case the shoes began to cause pain.
One last thing -- animal product testing!
The cat would rather not.
Regardless, they're ready for prom!
