36 Forgotten Classic Corvettes Were Discovered In An NYC Garage (Photos)

by Robert Anthony

A total of 36 Corvettes were recently discovered in an underground garage in New York City.

It turns out the Corvettes belonged to Peter Max, a German artist known for his vibrant pop art works.

The Corvettes date from 1953 to 1989. According to Daily Mail, Max purchased the entire collection from Dennis Amodeo. Amodeo won the classic cars during a VH1 call-in contest in 1989.

The exchange of the collection resulted in Amodeo walking away with $250,000 in cash, $250,000 worth of Max's artwork and an agreement.

The agreement stated that if Max were to sell the collection off in the future, Amodeo would walk away with up to $1 million.

Peter Max intended on using them as part of one of his art projects but, clearly, never got around to it. The Corvettes just sat there and collected dust for over 25 years.

Max sold the collection to the Heller family over the summer. The family will now look to auction the vehicles off all together, rather than separately.

Check out the collection below for a closer look!
