After Bridgerton Season 1 premiered, Emily Bear and Abigail Barlow wrote a spinoff musical that went viral on TikTok. The songs were beloved, but no one expected their resulting album to get a Grammy nom. So, when The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical won a Grammy, Twitter erupted.

The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical was up against stiff competition in the musical theater album category. The other nominees were Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella, Burt Bacharach's Some Lovers, Bob Dylan's Girl From the North Country, and The 2020 Les Misérables Staged Concert.
