This Is What It's Like To Be A Guy Named Taylor Swift

by Eitan Levine

It's not easy being Taylor Swift's name doppelgänger.

For 20 years, Taylor Swift went about his life pretty normally.

He went to school, he got into photography and he opened up his own studio. No, that wasn't all a gender typo. I did mean “HIS life” because I'm talking about Taylor Adam Swift, a Seattle-based photographer who carries the unique and awkward burden of having the same name as the third most popular person in the world -- right behind Jesus and Malia Obama.

While some loyal Swifties might be honored to share their names with their queen, Taylor Adam Swift has had his Internet life destroyed by this coincidence.

For instance, you have to scroll through approximately 10,000 pages of Google results to get to his photography website -- rough estimate I just made up -- and he had to stop using his gmail account TaylorSwift@gmail.com, which he says currently has 539 emails in it.

Plus, in real life, literally any interaction he ever has involves him going,

Yes, I know, Taylor Swift. Crazy. Can I please just have my package now?

It's not all bad, though. Taylor says he does get a lot of fanmail meant for Taylor #2 (Sorry, celebrity Taylor Swift, Seattle Taylor Swift was here first) that he likes to pretend is all meant for him. He told Fox 29,

It's a great confidence booster. It's like endless amounts of 'You're beautiful, you're so talented, you're a great role model, you have a beautiful voice,' and here I am just like, 'Oh, thank you!'

I'm kind of regretting naming my child "Nick Lachey" now...
