E.L. James Announces New 'Fifty Shades' Told From Christian Grey's POV

by Adam Pliskin

It may have seemed as if there weren't going to be any more installments in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" book franchise, but that is no longer the case.

E.L. James, the author of the series, penned a new novel within the "Fifty Shades" universe.

Maybe "new" isn't the right word because the novel is a retelling of the original "Fifty Shades of Grey" book from the point of view of Christian Grey.

The book, titled "Grey," explores the psyche and past of its eponymous, mysterious billionaire.

James said she was inspired to revisit the original novel from Grey's point of view by scores of fans clamoring for her to do so.

James said,

Christian is a complex character and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It's been a great pleasure to return to my happy place - writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic publishing teams in the US and the UK.

The novel will be released on June 18, which is supposedly Christian Grey's birthday.
