Have you ever wanted to live in Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs?
Seems like a cool idea, right? You could be just like Harry Potter living under the stairs and reading a book with a flashlight, just like little you always wanted to do.
Does this seem like a good use of your time and money?
If so, what the hell is wrong with you?
Seriously, what is your problem? Is your life so privileged you just want to try and see what it's like on the other side, literally crammed into a tiny space? As a person with funds,do you really want to spend it on curling your grown-ass adult legs into an abusive space?
Well, if this still seems like a super fun thing to do, maniac, I've got some good news and I've got some bad news.
First, the good news: There is actually a listing to rent out the cupboard under the stairs on 4 Privet Drive, Harry Potter's famous address when he lived with the Dursleys.
The listing was posted on London Fox Lettings, a British site for rentals.
It says renting out the cupboard will give you access to a dinner area, living room and garden -- as well as to the Knight Bus.
The listing says the cupboard itself is a "quaint single room in semi-detached home." It says it "fits one small single bed" with shelving for storage.
This is the perfect fit for "those with a 'minimalist' lifestyle."
The listing does come with warnings, however, including that there can be spiders and that it is not a welcoming space for those taller than 5 feet 4 inches. It adds,
Will be expected to mix well with the property owners, a family of three Muggles
The listing appears to be written for witches and wizards.
It does give you access to lots of stuff close by, including access to Diagon Alley and schools like St Brutus's Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys.
Monthly rent does not include bills, meals or cleaning -- and tenants are expected to clean and cook for the Muggles in the house.
It is unclear exactly where this listing came from and why it exists at all.
When asked what is known about the listing, an online representative at London Fox Lettings would only say,
Oh, well that... It is magical!
So, it seems like you can go and try to live there, you total weirdo.
