Finally! The First Photos From The The New 'Ghostbusters' Are Here (Photos)
Pictures from the set of the all-female "Ghostbusters" remake leaked on Twitter yesterday, and, from the looks of it, it's going to be unforgettable.
The remake, directed by Paul Feig, will star Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
In the pics, Wiig is seen traipsing around an urban set in a plaid pantsuit while McCarthy's character dons an all-black ensemble, and McKinnon looks like a crazed scientist emerging from a nuclear explosion.
Unfortunately, we don't know much about the context of the scenes in the photos, but we can glean some info from the unofficial plot synopsis released in the Boston Herald yesterday:
According to our script spies, Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. [Like the original, the story takes place in New York City, even though it's currently being shot in Washington.] Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
Filming for the highly anticipated flick, set for release next summer, is currently taking place in Washington.
It is unclear if any filming will happen in New York, where the movie is officially set, but stay tuned for updates!
Wiig's character looks prim and proper...
...and the funny female rocks some seriously stellar bangs.
Meanwhile, McCarthy and McKinnon make for an eclectic pair.
Shoutout to the sneaky fans who snapped these sneak peeks!
