A Friendly Reminder: Matthew McConaughey Hasn't Worn Deodorant In 20 Years

by Adam Pliskin

Matthew McConaughey's new film "Interstellar" is out in theaters now.

I have yet to see it, but the Christopher Nolan directed film is supposed to be a sci-fi epic, even if it is getting mixed reviews.

So, we thought this would be a good time to remind you all about a very important piece of information pertaining to McConaughey's daily life.

While women the world over may worship at the altar of McConaughey, and while he may have summited the highest peaks of sexiness, there's one thing that is a cause for concern.

What I'm getting at is this: Matthew McConaughey doesn't wear deodorant. He also doesn't wear cologne. And he hasn't for over 20 years.

This stinky news first came to light back when McConaughey was shooting "Fool's Gold" with Kate Hudson.

Hudson begged Matthew to put on some deodorant for his BO during the shoot, in which he was frequently shirtless. He said,

She always brings a salt rock, which is some natural deodorant, and says, ‘Would you please put this on?’ I just never wore it. No cologne, no deodorant.

Matthew McConaughey insisted that it's never been a problem for him. He added,

The women in my life, including my mother, have all said, ‘Hey, your natural smell smells, one, like a man, and, two, smells like you.

Though, this is not to say that McConaughey is unhygienic. He claims he takes multiple showers a day and brushes his teeth up to five times a day.

The reasoning behind all of this is simple. McConaughey said that he doesn't "like to smell like someone or something else."

He is a unique guy after all, and smelling like axe body spray would probably ruin his mystique.

So, McConaughey may not smell like delicate lavender and salty beach breezes, but I'm sure that wouldn't stop most people from shacking up with the "Interstellar" star anytime soon.
