Kanye West's VMAs Nomination Has Fans Wondering If He'll Be There

Kanye West is only up for one VMA this year: Best Choreography for the "Fade" music video (a truly iconic vid). Given that he's only up for one this year, will we be seeing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at the VMAs? It doesn't seem likely, as West and Kardashian haven't even mentioned the VMAs lately. They did slay the VMAs blue carpet at the 2016 VMAs, and Kanye's speech at the 2016 VMAs was one we won't soon forget, but as for the 2017 VMAs, we probably won't see Kimye in attendance.

West's 2016 VMAs speech came immediately before he debuted "Fade" and its music video. He didn't end up winning any of the VMAs he was nominated for (he lost most of them to Beyoncé's "Formation" because obviously), but MTV did ask him to take the stage for an "uncensored" four minutes. And during the speech, he called out Taylor Swift for all of the "Famous" drama (the song and video for which he was nominated that night). It was an interesting speech, to say the least. My favorite part was the opening line when he said, "I am Kanye West," just in case we didn't know. Here's another great clip from the speech:

Now, later tonight, 'Famous' might lose to Beyoncé but I can't be mad. I'm always wishing for Beyoncé to win so… for people to understand just how blessed we are, ['Famous'] was an expression of our now, our fame right now, us on the inside of the TV. You know, just to put… the audacity to put Anna Wintour right next to Donald Trump. I mean, I put Ray J in there bro! This is fame, bro! Like, I see you Amber… my wife is a G…

Even if Kim and Kanye do go to the VMAs this year, it will be hard to top this speech. Here are some of the VMA nominations you'll be hearing about on Sunday, Aug. 27:
