Justin Bieber Reportedly Canceled His Tour To Pursue "Spiritual Soul-Searching"

It looks like Justin Bieber canceling the Purpose World Tour might be a sign that he's leaving music for longer than we thought. According to TMZ, Bieber canceled his Purpose World Tour due to a "spiritual awakening." He's reportedly been very involved with the Hillsong Church and its founder, Carl Lentz. And while TMZ reports Lentz advised him not to cancel his tour, Bieber reportedly decided to cancel it so he can do some soul-searching and be more involved with the Hillsong Church.

Elite Daily reached out to Justin Bieber's representative for comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.

A source told TMZ Bieber's relationship with Lentz is "intense," but "The church didn't tell Justin to cancel the tour. He made his decision based on spiritual soul-searching and his own view of the path in life he should be taking." OK, that's fair. The source also said, "[Bieber's] becoming the Tom Cruise of that church." Oh...

In case you didn't know, Tom Cruise is basically the poster child of the Church of Scientology, which seems like more of a cult than a religion, but that's just me. Back to the Biebs!

After Bieber's team announced the Purpose World Tour had been canceled, they said in a statement to Elite Daily,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts. Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over the last 18 months. He is grateful and honored to have shared that experience with his cast and crew for over 150 successful shows across six continents during this run. However, after careful consideration, he has decided he will not be performing any further dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.

In a TMZ video, Bieber's asked why he canceled the tour and if everything is OK. Bieber claimed he's "Just resting" and "getting some relaxation," and did not say it was for religious reasons.

To his fans, he said,

I love you guys, I think you guys are awesome. Sorry if anybody feels disappointed or betrayed, it's not my heart or anything. And have a blessed day.

At this point, it's still a bit unclear why Bieber actually canceled his tour. Either way, let's just hope Bieber doesn't realize that he hates guitars and dancing while doing that soul-searching. That would suck.
