Beyoncé's Wax Figure Was "Adjusted" After Backlash But Fans Are Still So Pissed
After receiving a lot of backlash from fans, Beyoncé's wax figure at Madame Tussauds has been updated to reflect a more accurate image of Queen Bey. But fans are still pissed about Beyoncé's wax figure because, even after the so called "updates," the wax figure still looks nothing like her. Even if you squint really hard, it still doesn't look like her.
Fans are confused about why Madame Tussauds can nail some figures so perfectly — like Kylie Jenner's — but can't seem to get Beyoncé's wax figure right. As fans pointed out, Kylie Jenner's wax figure features the actual Balmain dress Jenner wore to the 2016 Met Gala and is accurate down to her eyelashes. But with Beyoncé's wax figure at the Midtown Manhattan Madame Tussauds, they couldn't even get her skin tone right.
This certainly looks like a whitewashed version of Beyoncé. Madame Tussauds, why can't you get this right???? Madame Tussauds said in a statement to The New York Times on Thursday, July 20,
At Madame Tussauds, our talented team of sculptors take every effort to ensure we accurately colour match all of our wax figures to the celebrity being depicted. Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the colour of our wax figures, which is something our sculptors are unable to account for at the production stage.
Are they really trying to say Beyoncé's wax figure doesn't look anything like her because of the lighting? LMAO, yeah, OK. What's with that blue romper she's wearing, then? I've been to every single one of her tours since she went solo, and I've never seen that romper at any point in my life.
Were they trying to emulate this iconic blue jumpsuit she wore on The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour? If so, they failed. Epically. And I'm not happy about it. Not. Happy.
On Friday, July 21, Madame Tussauds released a statement addressing the Beyoncé wax figure controversy further. The statement said,
We love, respect and enjoy a working relationship with Beyoncé. We have adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure and she is on display.
Fam... it's not the lighting that's making Beyoncé's wax figure look different. It just straight-up doesn't look like Beyoncé. Take this L and make a better one for all of our sakes.
Fans have visited Madame Tussaud's since Queen Bey's wax figure was moved into some more "flattering lighting," but guess what? It still doesn't look like her. It's almost as if the lighting won't actually change anything? And also, I fail to see where the styling of the figure was changed? That blue romper is still there.
The literal only change from those two pictures is the styling of her hair surrounding her face. That's it. Still doesn't look like Beyoncé.
Fans will not be fooled, Madame Tussauds. This Beyoncé wax figure has not been changed at all. The only Beyoncé wax figure that holds a candle to Beyoncé's actual appearance is the one of her in London.
Can someone please just get this right?! I will donate all of the pictures from my Beyoncé shrine (yes, it's real) so you can get this right. Just let me know where to send them and I'll get them there faster than you can say "We're sorry we've ruined Beyoncé's wax figure."
