5 Things You Need To Buy On Your First Trip To A Sex Shop

by Samira Behrouzan

I went to a sex shop for the first time recently, and it was something out of a dream. It was like I had stepped inside a whole new world akin to Narnia.

No, I'm just kidding. It looked like every other store I had ever been into except instead of groceries, video games or toiletries, it was selling sex toys.

At first, it felt a little weird because for some reason I felt as if I had somehow violated some code of human conduct and entered a new rebellious phase in my life. But once I got over that feeling of slight embarrassment and shock, it was pretty cool.

Given that I'm new to this whole thing, I didn't want to just go around and start grabbing things, so I enlisted the help of one of the lovely ladies at Cupid's Closet and had her fill me in on the hottest, most fun and best sex toys on the market right now so I could share with you guys.

So, here are just a few of the things you should be buying right now:

1. Wicked Aqua Flavored Lubricant, Salted Caramel

I have never been a huge fan of lube. To be honest, I just didn't see why people needed it because if you engage in foreplay correctly, you pretty much have all the lubrication you'll need to have an epic sex session.

As I was stating my take on lubes, the assistant just told me to give this one a shot. She put a small amount on my finger and asked me to lick it. (Kinky, I know.) Oddly enough, it was the best thing I had ever tried. It was magically delicious and has now become a staple for me in the bedroom.

I now completely understand why so many people use lube and flock to this one especially.

2. We-Vibe 4 Plus Couples Vibrator

This is crazy. I just don't even know how else to put it or say it, but whoever thought of this was a genius and probably also in a long-distance relationship.

If you're in a relationship with a partner who either lives far away or is always traveling, this toy is most definitely for you. You can control your significant other's insides as long as they have it in, and there are many ways to add your own spin on this.

I asked a few of my freaky friends how they use theirs, and the answers ranged from in the shower to during sex, all the way to during dinner in restaurants and while traveling on road trips.

3. Jimmyjane HELLO TOUCH Finger Vibrator

Jimmyjane Hello Touch Finger Vibrator, $35, Amazon

This is the one toy that keeps on giving and can work both ways, which is why it's so popular among couples and singles alike.

It reminds me of a robot hand with vibrating tips, and it's either something a dude can slip on to pleasure his girl during foreplay or sex, or a girl can put on her hand and use during foreplay and oral as well.

I mean, who wouldn't want a finger vibrator? Plus, it's one of the few toys out there that's more visually appealing and isn't the shape of a penis or animal.

4. LELO TOR 2 Ring

Rings either freak people out or excite them. Personally, I don't care for them, but this one was worth discovering and trying.

It caters to people who are super new or have more recently decided to dabble in the world of sex toys, and it's relatively easy to use. Not only is it super strong, but it has six different settings and is super easy to slip on.

The expert at the shop recommends applying just a little bit of lube and keeping an open mind when it comes to the whole experience because it may spice up your sex life in a very fun and unexpected way.

5. XXXopoly

XXXopoly, $35, Amazon

This one is geared more towards the gamers or people who enjoy playing board games as a form of foreplay to break the ice.

I didn't want to dive into only sex toys, so I asked her to give me a less traditional option as far as that goes. This game is kind of like playing Monopoly, and overall, the best way to have fun with this is to make up your own rules and version as you go along.

I don't think you're going to bust this out every single time you have sex, but hey, if you're in a playful mood, it is the perfect way to get things going. And just a word of advice: Ignore the time limits.
