It Took This Couple Eight Long Years To Say ‘I Love You’ (Video)

Picture this: You’ve been with your partner for eight years. You share a car, a bank account and a home.

You go on trips. You go to weddings. You talk about your future together.

And, despite all this closeness and open communication, the one thing you haven’t done is say,

I love you.

So, after eight years of living in what seems like a loveless relationship with all this buildup, how the f*ck are you supposed to say it now?

The answer: a video. But, not just any homemade, shaky-camcorder video. A beautiful, thoughtful and special video.

With the help of filmmaker Bianca Giaever and radio program "This American Life,” Maia Leppo finally told her lover of eight years, Alex Kobzik, she loved him. And the result is this heartwarming video from The New York Times.

After Maia heard “This American Life” was looking for participants who wanted help delivering a personal message, she wrote to the team about her situation.

It wasn’t that they didn’t love each other; on the contrary, they just found other ways to say it.

Check out how Maia, with the assistance of the creative team, decided to finally say those three short words to Alex after eight long years.

And this Valentine’s Day, remember, don’t be afraid to tell someone you love them.
