Go, Rihanna, Give Us Parka Chic On The Met Gala Carpet!

Even bundled up, Rihanna looks so glam.

At the very last second, Rihanna stepped onto the 2021 Met Gala red carpet wearing a look I guarantee only she could pull off. Rihanna’s Met Gala look was an all-black, enormous parka-gown hybrid from Balenciaga Couture that caped around her neck and extended all the way to the floor with an enormous, billowing skirt. How she can make a look like this seem so glam, I have no idea.

Rihanna's black Met Gala look mimicked a sleeping bag, a parka, and a ball gown all in one, with a short train trailing behind her.

Rih walked the carpet arm-in-arm with A$AP Rocky, who also appeared bundled up in an oversized quilted blanket. The duo look like a cozy power couple.

Rihanna’s 2021 Met Gala look is a masterclass in contrasting elevated, experimental fashion with casual, streetwear elements. She paired her Met Gala dress with a simple black beanie that featured mesh, rhinestone detailing.

Lest we forget the dripping details, Rihanna was also decked out in diamonds on her neck by way of a thick, statement necklace.

Of course, the singer’s makeup was classic Rihanna: a pristine, even complexion; enormous lashes; and a deep, dark lip to match her black gown.

You could consider Rihanna’s black dress the antithesis of her 2015 Met Gala dress, which also featured an excess of fabric, but in the form of an enormous cape, instead.

Even though you might’ve missed her if you didn’t scan the carpet like a hawk, Rihanna knew what she was doing: You always save the best for last.
