Fall is on the way and, with it, a slew of new nail trends. While autumn’s biggest manicure moments are a far cry from the mega-luxe manis of summer, there’s still a ton to love, so I tapped Michelle Khan, one of TikTok’s fave nail artists, to give me the rundown.

From this fall’s hottest nail shape to the newest french mani update, Khan has insights into everything you’re about to see on your FYP and your fave celebs’ own nails. The best part? Most of these styles can be done at home.

1. Chrome Nails

Think beyond Hailey Bieber’s glazed doughnut nails, which use a delicate eggshell chrome color, to full-on silver and gold chrome, says Khan. “[They’re] going to go really viral this fall because it’s not your typical autumn colors [and] brown shades.”

2. Almond-Shaped Nails

When it comes to fall’s hottest nail shape, Khan thinks “definitely a medium almond or a medium oval,” will take this season’s top spot because “it just screams like classy to me. It’s really dainty and it's going to look really nice in a lot of outfits."

3. Square Nails

Sharing the top spot for fall’s hottest nail shape is the long square, says Khan. While almond nails will take the cake for folks who keep their nails short, long square nails are *the* shape for anyone who loves a major nail moment.

4. Nail Gems

If you’re longing for summer’s flashy nail trends, you’ll love the updated nail gem trend for fall. Khan predicts that nail gems will continue to thrive this season. Rather than ultra-opulent, fall’s gem-studded nails will be a bit quieter.

5. Matte French Manis

Another fall trend Khan loves is a french manicure that plays with finish, in addition to contrasting colors. “Imagine almond nails, all glossy on top, but with a matte top coat as a french tip,” she explains of this subtle trend. “It’s super cute and super simple.”
