With seven nominations, Olivia Rodrigo was poised for a big night at the 2022 Grammys. Her album Sour absolutely dominated 2021, but Rodrigo sweetened up music’s biggest night with a show-stopping performance of “drivers license.”

Rodrigo’s inescapable single “drivers license” was up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, which are two of the biggest awards of the night. With all that hype around the breakup ballad, Rodrigo delivered an emotional rendition of the track.

Rodrigo kicked off the awards show with a major performance of “drivers license.” Fittingly enough, she started the song in a car before stepping onto the stage that was transformed into suburbia at twilight.

Rodrigo’s look lit up the stage as much as the set design. She rocked a white dress with ruffles on the bottom, along with black fishnet stockings and boots to highlight her punk-rock prom queen vibe.

The performance look was a stark change from Rodrigo’s red carpet look from earlier in the night. Before taking the stage, the singer wore a body-con Vivienne Westwood dress with sparkly pink and silver detailing.

Though Rodrigo performed at the top of the show, she’d already won that night. Prior to the Grammys telecast, she picked up Best Pop Solo Performance for “drivers license.”

Obviously, Rodrigo stans were immediately obsessed with the new performance, sharing their favorite clips to social media.

As always, the iconic “drivers license” bridge is what really brought the house down.

The unforgettable performance was the perfect way to kick off Rodrigo’s big night and proved she more than earned her seven nominations this year.
