TikTok revealed the Year On TikTok 2021 on Dec. 6. This virtual walk down memory lane includes 10 categories with the top creators, sounds, moments and more in the U.S. and around the world.

All the sounds, trends, and dances that make you think of TikTok made it on this list, from the dreamy remix of “here comes the boy” to “bro, who got you smiling like that?

Of course, @totouchanemu took the No. 1 spot with drone dancing.

Best Feel-Good Videos

Nothing brings you joy like hearing it’s a Bones Day.

The No. 1 U.S. smile-maker was Finnegan the Fox. Noodle the Pug and these cats that are the most adorable definition of clingy also made the list.

This otter adorably crushing ice was the top global video.

Top TikTok Songs

TikTok’s 2021 soundtrack featured tracks from The Kid LAROI (“STAY”), Olivia Rodrigo (“drivers license”), and Doja Cat (“Kiss Me More”).

No. 1 in the U.S. was Popp Hunna’s (“Adderall (Corvette Corvette)”). The top global hit was “Astronaut in the Ocean” by MaskedWolf.

Must-Watch TikTokers

U.S. breakout stars include the hilarious Lissette Edwardo and Emily Mariko (hello, salmon bowls). The No. 1 spot went to Chef Puff, aka the cat chef destroying all your food hack dreams.

Italy-based Senegalese comedy TikToker Khaby Lame is the top global account to watch.

Best TikTok Effects

TikTok’s best 2021 trends would’ve been nothing if it weren’t for popular effects like Versailles Run, Buffering, and the favorite of the year for U.S. users, Psychedelic Clown.

The top global effect was the mind-boggling Inverted Filter.

TikTokers Doing Good

Accounts like @nativephotography and @AlexisNikole educate users on Native culture and edible plants, respectively.

TikToker @JoelBervell took the No. 1 spot in the U.S., with his videos dedicated to fighting disparities in medicine.

Globally, Inuk TikToker @shinanova was the No. 1 voice of change.

Food trends like the feta pasta (which was the top global recipe) and the salmon rice bowl brought out the chef in everyone this year.

The No. 1 TikTok hack in the U.S., the tortilla trend, held steady after breaking out in January 2021.

Top TikTok Buys

#TikTokMadeMeBuyIt: From the IKEA tote bag to the Instant FIRMx Eye Cream by Peter Thomas Roth, TikTok had all your favorite needs and wants on lock this year — just ask the No. 1 U.S. buy, the brown Gap sweatshirt.
